Mr. Burns: a classic Reptilian archetype

Have you ever encountered a really cold-blooded, calculating individual who had such a small regard for the lives & dignity of others that you thought that they couldn’t possibly be human? And what’s more astonishing: this certain type of individual more often than not is an upstanding member of society, elegant in presentation & attire, and basically the perfect type of person to be a politician, leader of industry, or other authoritarian & exalted position.

It’s the sort of person who can make decisions like defrauding the investors in his company, or initiating a military action that they know will leave thousands of people dead. It is precisely the existence of these rather unsavory individuals which I think has led to the Reptilian theory–the theory that shape-shifting reptile-like aliens are controlling the planet in a global conspiracy.

Then again, could the theory actually be literally true?

At the very least, I believe that people who are cold, calculating, and seemingly devoid of real human feeling & empathy project an “aura” that would be considered “reptile” in nature.  Psychically sensitive individuals can intuitively pick up such a reptile nature.

Also, there is the possibility that shamans traveling within other aspects of reality could actually “see” these individuals as reptile in form.  Or that people, seen from other dimensions or in the Dreamscape, take on the form of their actual nature.  So in the Dreamscape Mr. Burns from "The Simpsons is definitely a greenie."

Then again, could the theory actually be literally true?

The biggest & most outspoken proponent of the Reptilian theory is David Icke.  He believes that there are definitely shape-shifting reptiles in prominent places of the global conspiracy that he refers to as “The Biggest Secret.” Icke goes so far as to name them: the likes of Prince Charles & George Bush!

These reptiles come from a planet that is no longer able to sustain life, so they consider their “outpost” Earth to be Home and their property. The reptilians can disguise themselves as humans but every once in a blue moon their disguise “slips” and humans see them for what they are. They also need human blood to survive, which they ingest during the course of human sacrifices.

There is a related-yet-separate theory from the cryptozoologist John Rhodes. He believes that Reptilians evolved on earth as an offshoot of the dinosaurs.  With the ascent of humans, the Reptilians went underground, literally: under the earth.  According to Rhodes, the sightings of reptile-like humanoids–like the ones that Icke mentions–are not of extraterrestrial beings at all, but of these reclusive Earth-born creatures.

There is yet another variation on the Reptilian theory that I find personally interesting.  It’s the vampire-Reptilian connection: Both shapeshift, drink blood, are cold-blooded, live very long lives, are involved in a conspiracy to eat/enslave mankind, are very concerned with bloodlines, can hypnotize people with a stare, etc.

According to some theorists, there have always been Reptilians, and the vampire folklore was built as a way to explain the reptilian presence on Earth. Vlad Tepes, the historical "Count Dracula," is also worked into the conspiracy. As well as, to my surprise, even stuff from Anne Rice novels!

And of course there is the question of Reptilian images in pop-culture.  Movies & TV shows like V the mini-series, Enemy Mine, even (symbolically) They Live.  What came first, V or the Reptilian theory? 

Then again, could the theory actually be literally true?

Humanity vs. Reptile: The Eternal Struggle

I generally keep an open mind, and consider myself a humble explorer into the realms of “forbidden science,” as Charles Fort might have said.  If I had to pick a point of view to lean towards, it would be the idea that some people have a genuine "reptilian" aura about them that you know as soon as you interact with them (especially if you're psychically sensitive). This does not mean that they are actual reptile creatures from Inner Earth or Outer Space -- but simply psychopaths operating from their primal "lizard brain."

These primal "lizard" responses from deep within our biological imperatives include a lack of remorse, unfettered greed, and sadism. I believe there is a portion of our society that operates out of this lizard-brain mentality...and, essentially, ruins it for everybody. It's because of this relatively small portion of society that we cannot have a utopia without the need for limits and laws, because these psychopaths would take advantage of every opportunity and loophole to indulge their primal urges regardless of who gets trampled on in the process.

 That said, there is something to be said for the wider archetype, one that encompasses not only the Reptilian "look" but that of green aliens, dragons, vampires, demons, etc. And there are so many potentially weird aspects of inter- and outer-dimensionality that the existence of such creatures–specifically reptile or not–probably couldn't be 100% ruled out.

Stephen's Girls: Carrie White and Wendy Torrance

This painting by Eric White really spoke to me in a deep, archetypal way, based off the 1977 Robert Altman film "3 Women":

It features two actresses who play starring roles in movies based off of Stephen King novels: Sissy Spacek and Shelley Duvall. I came across this painting at a point in my life where I was just "reactivating" my novel that "wrote itself" -- a book about two wildly different female protagonists who can never meet each other, or the world will end. The "hero" of the novel is assigned the task of keeping the paths of these two women from diverging -- but he himself is "unstuck" in both time and "self," finding himself suddenly assuming the lives and "roles" of other people.

Spacek and Duvall in "3 Women" play similarly opposite characters as the ones in my book -- both named Mildred -- who meet and start a bizarre chain of events ending in them literally "shifting" personalities. We have the idea here that the Self is not static, but a dynamic, perhaps even unstable and permeable entity.

Spacek of course plays Carrie White in "Carrie" (1976) and Duvall is Wendy Torrance in "The Shining" (1980) -- two meek and passive women unaware of the great personal power within them:

Both Carrie and Wendy suffer their own personal apocalypses in their respective movies, one ending in fire:

...and one in  ice:

The characters of Carrie and Wendy also bring to mind that of fairy-tale heroines.

Carrie White resonates Snow White who resonates the fairy-tale of "Snow White and Rose Red", also about two girls with polar-opposite personalities:

"Rose Red" will also be the name of a 2002 Stephen King miniseries featuring an Oregon mansion very much like the Overlook from "The Shining":

"Wendy" brings to mind the heroine from "Peter Pan" -- Wendy Torrance having the unenviable task of dealing with her husband that "won't grow up" (in other words, stop his dreams of writing and get a real job), Jack. Fans of the animated movie "Rise of the Guardians" have pointed out the similarities between Disney's Peter Pan and "ROTG's" Jack Frost:

Of course, Jack Torrance at the end of "Shining" literally becomes a sort of "Jack Frost":

Robin Williams plays another Peter Pan-like boy-man who can't grow up in the 1996 movie "Jack":

Williams co-starred opposite Duvall in the 1980 Altman movie "Popeye":

During the production of the film, Duvall showed Williams her collection of antique fairy-tale books; she felt he would be perfect to play "The Frog Prince," and soon after started a cable TV series for children called "Faerie Tale Theatre":

Meanwhile, Sissy Spacek will go on to play the crazy mother of Carrie-like fright-child Samara in "The Ring 2":

Samara plays an "unstuck" soul who has gone beyond concepts of space, time, and even Self -- she has also transcended the movie/video to reach out at the viewer in a personal manner reflecting that of the synchromysticist and various syncs from pop-culture:

The "soul" of the Carrie/Wendy Spacek/Duvall archetypes will  flash-forwards and -backwards to 1977, to be "synthesized" in Altman's "3 Women" -- with the help of the pregnant "third woman," Willie, portrayed by Janice Rule:

Willie is a silent artist of primal, savage murals that look like the Dreamtime of the Aborigines -- a medium of the subconscious by which the two Mildreds can synthesize themselves and loosen their definitions of Self:

In a neat Altman/Stanley Kubrick sync, note the similarities between Willie's mural and this scene from "2001" (apes congregating around the stargate symbol):

In the end, the two Mildreds and the one Willie of "3 Women" syncretize into a functional Whole -- in effect, forming the Triple Goddess (which I elaborate on here). In order for this to happen, the Mildreds have to pass through the stargate/reality point and go where Self is permeable and subjective:

Requiem For The Doomed (And All The Mummified Cats)

Two horrible news stories competed for my attention yesterday -- soul-crushing, hideous, gory news stories in which the actual "newsworthiness" to me was debatable.

In the first, a man was pushed to his death in front of a New York City subway train (the train line I use, just for an added fillip of dread). According to an MTA public service poster I noticed coincidentally the same day I later found out about the death, about 40+ people died from being struck by subway trains last year. But what made this particular item of such visceral impact is the way our humor paper, The New York Post, reported the story on its front page:

The altercation that proceeded this poor man's fall onto the tracks was also filmed by one type of mobile device or another -- the important thing is, it was recorded. Recorded, another trifle on the iPhones and tablets and other gadgets. As I've pointed out in a previous post on a knife-wielding man who was shot in Times Square, the citizenry always are sure to record such anomalous events and tragedies on their devices, watch through lenses and screens at the gory drama about to unfold.

Then the Media covers the event, replicates and magnifies certain images for mass consumption. But the NYP cover is probably one of the most blood-curdling, "bread and circuses" tableau I've ever seen.

What is the accumulated mental impact on the populace as the result of being exposed to such horrors?

The second, barely "news" story was a segment on the show "Hoarders," about essentially the Ed Gein of cat hoarders. Cat owners, I will spare you the details, but it was the most disgusting, soul-ripping situation you can possibly imagine. This, coupled with an obviously deeply emotionally ill woman crying, cradling a mummified cat/cat-head in her arms and admitting she has lost all control.

If there is any real news about these two stories, it's about the inadequate mental health services provided to people in this country -- meager resources that are constantly in danger of being cut from governmental budgets. But you'll never see such items framed in such a way. That would be boring.

I write this in the context of a horrible nightmare I had last night. It started with a man, possibly a veteran, returning from war. He looks at all the giant ads and billboards surrounding him, and the symbolism really disturbs him -- triggers off deep post-traumatic stress issues. These are ads and signs not just containing violent imagery, but just deep, symbolic stuff that creates a sense of vertigo and cognitive dissonance.

As the dream continues, the man turns to me and tells me that I am the only one who can unlock the mystery of what has happened to men like him -- people who have been purposely fucked-up and mentally destroyed in these sorts of "experiments." These experiments involve the use of repeated imagery and sound -- I suppose MK-Ultra type stuff. He says the answers are "locked in his head," though there are books and other notes around the room I might be able to get more information from.

Then the scene switches to a room full of people -- regular people you'd find anywhere. A tone is played, and a certain light is flashed, and these people turn on each other, trying to kill each other with their bare hands and anything they find in the room. They become like complete animals. It's like something out of "The Manchurian Candidate," but with regular people not soldiers, and far more brutal.

Which reminds me of "The Walking Dead," and of this recent news story of a man who shot his girlfriend in the back with a rifle over an argument regarding the show. The substance of the argument? The suspect was convinced that a zombie-apocalypse type scenario might happen:

"...he felt very adamant that there could be some type of military mishap that would result in some sort of virus or something being released that could cause terrible things to happen."

I'm going to wind this all up with mentioning once again the "Summer of Shootings" that just passed, starting with the "Dark Knight" one in Aurora and quickly escalating to almost one a week. After a while, we still got those shooting stories...but they weren't big news anymore, barely a Twitter Trend.

Bored again. What will be the new Hotness? The Royal Messiahs? Junk Food Shortages?

Anyway, I also write a blog on Wellness, and really try to focus on strategies to shield oneself -- or at least purge the toxins -- from being exposed to all this. I don't believe in being sheltered. But we need the critical thinking ability to put what we see in context. And we need to Consume Content Consciously.
