Played Out: Beyoncé's Super Bowl Symbolism

Posted on 09:16 by omprakash

Oh Noes! The Symbolismz!
To be blunt, we need a new "hotness" -- Beyoncé's so-called Illuminati hand-gesture (or a plug for hubby's clothing line, take your pick) at the Superbowl was just so played out. Even Alex Jones was doing a half-hearted segment on it like he felt he "had" to -- but there was no passion in his usually fanatical eyes. He somehow tied it into Sandy Hook, I think...sort of like tying a cherry stem into a pretzel in your mouth. The fire was gone.

Vigilant Citizen also had its mandatory "Illuminati Messages, Beyoncé, and the N.W.O. Agenda" type post -- touching all the basic points, but admitting towards the end:

"...things were somewhat more subdued and abstract in this year’s SuperBowl"

OH NOES! (Jesus will save us)
VC also mentioned the mass-media coverage of said "Illuminati" connection to Beyoncé/Superbowl, noting:

"The mass media coverage of Beyoncé’s Illuminati hand sign, also reflects a new trend: Mass media are now directly addressing, discrediting and ridiculing “conspiracy theories” (I hate that term) in order to make sure that people do not start thinking too much about the strange things they are witnessing on TV."
And that's true, but I'm not sure the media is including this "conspiracy" symbology specifically in order to discredit "fringe" theorists. Some of these theorists, like Jones and his infamous Piers Morgan meltdown, do a pretty good job on that on their own -- which in turn is perfect fodder to hype on the news and, yes, discredit fringe theorists.

Jones, you were played.
No, I think two things are primarily going on here:

1) Esoteric "Illuminati" symbolism is now purposely being used by certain performers in order to build their mystique. This is why I felt pretty much embarrassed for Bey when she flashed that hand-sign -- it frankly just seemed desperate, screaming "hey I'm still relevant!". Lady Gaga did these things in a far more seamless, entertaining fashion but her light has been dimming as well. Rhianna's efforts on this front just make me sad because they're tied into this sado-masochistic/MK-Girl image of her that seems purposely cultivated by her handlers. And when someone like Justin Bieber does it...ugh.

nothing screams "I'm relevant" like teh eye thing
2) These Esoteric symbols have a "power" all on their own that transcends shadowy secret societies, the Illuminati, and what have you. They don't necessarily need to be tied to a larger "agenda". Shit -- you could take a week or a day to learn about this stuff and do it yourself! This is advertising/marketing/graphic design 101, my friends. The single eye. The so-called "666" sign. The eye in the triangle. Powerful, powerful images that strike us deep in our primal brains and: SELL US STUFF! (and, perhaps, accidentally evoking powerful energies that shut down the power during the Super Bowl; I'm totally on-board with that explanation)

I consider myself a "folklorist," if you will, of all these trends in esoteric symbolism and how they intersect with popular culture. And there is no doubt that the cumulative impact of a lot of this stuff -- especially if they are symbology of a decidedly negative nature -- is evident on the public. For example, "The Dark Knight Rises" is pretty much etched in the brains of our hapless populace.

OH NOES!!!11!!!11111
But also -- they are increasingly used as just one more tool in the advertising/entertainment arsenal. And maybe, if you look back at the icons and symbols of the past 100 years, they were always there. Just like pagan symbols such as Santa and the Easter Bunny.

The trick is -- to understand their meanings. Not just to prevent the New World Over takeover -- if you are truly interested in that, I suggest you start studying contemporary politics and economics stat. But to be empowered. To empower yourself. Why should only a relatively small group of people in this world understand the power of these symbols, and have them at their disposal?

And why should you cower in fear when you see the obvious eyes in triangles, the "one-eye" symbolism in your popular culture? We are not savages fearing the Scary Thing du jour, crossing and pissing ourselves, tossing kids on the fire to appease the gods and hanging our "suspect" women. The "Book" of choice will not save us. Look up how many of the sites and videos that condemn this symbolism in pop-culture end with "AND JESUS WILL SAVE US." Wow! Replacing one set of occult symbols for another. Bloody brilliant!

We need to get educated.

As for Beyoncé and the whole Super Bowl Half Time show -- man, I'm bored. This is all played out. What is the New Hotness?

My prediction: sigils:

Watch for sigil symbolism as being the Brand New Thing all over pop-culture.

"Oblivion" Trailer: Tom Cruise Opens His Eyes

Posted on 05:54 by omprakash

The trailer for the post-apocalyptic film "Oblivion," starring Tom Cruise, has recently been released. Some quick observations and syncs here:

The first shot is of a burned-out (American) football stadium: "the last Superbowl was played here." It's immediate all-seeing eye imagery to kick things off; not necessarily sinister symbolism, but definitely one that activates our subconscious. Also spontaneously brings to mind "The Dark Knight Rises":

Football = "American Way Of Life."

Then we have a scene of Cruise's character, Jack Harper (check out Sync Whole for more info on connection between Cruise and "Jacks"), with a dog. This reenacts the Fool tarot card, indicating that Harper is unknowingly setting out for a new adventure, and really does not know what is truly "going on.":

INTERMISSION SYNC!

At this point in the writing of the post, I am called upstairs to accompany members of my family to a visit to a pool hall called "Fast Eddie's". Of course, "Oblivion" star Cruise co-starred in "The Color of Money," a film about pool featuring the character Fast Eddie Felson:

When I get to Fast Eddie's, our two tables are positioned in front of large framed photos of football and baseball stadiums:

And, of course, there's tons of football playing everywhere.

END INTERMISSION SYNC!

Back to the trailer: the next scene is of a ship flying past the ruins of a skyscraper: "60 years ago, the Earth was attacked" -- stirs up latent 9/11 fear/symbolism. Again: "American way of life" threatened:

Now we move from 9/11 fear to recent Hurricane Sandy fear, as Cruise puts on a New York Yankees hat and we hear him say: "Everyone's been evacuated." Yankees = NY = evacuated = hurricane. Yankees = American Way Of Life.

He then has a little plant sample next to him, subliminally recalling the movie WALL-E -- this point is further driven home by his words: "...nothing human remains":

His ship even has "eyes" like WALL-E:

But the movie suddenly turns into "The Matrix" as he finds the "true" world behind the facade -- that there is a whole world of "resistance" members.

Here is Morgan Freeman as "Malcolm Beech" -- Morpheus, basically:

Malcolm will literally provide enlightenment -- the match -- so Jack can really "see" (the "seeing" motif also present in the ship with "eyes.")

Through this process, Jack finds out that the people he's been working for "aren't even human":

We've seen these dead-eyed "human impostors" (of possible alien origin?) in the recent trailer for the movie "The Host":

But there are even suggestions here that Jack's very sense of perception is clouded, faulty -- Matrix-like flashbacks to the NYC of "today":

Spotting "The Girl" who might be the link between the world of reality and that of maya/illusion (note the eyes/lenses imagery again):

and the idea that "Earth Is A Memory..."

Tom Cruise has starred in a number of movies dealing with these issues of memory, perception, and reality, most notably "Vanilla Sky", a remake of a Spanish film whose English title is "Open Your Eyes":
navigating realms of reality to see the Truth

He also strongly resonates the symbolism of the Eye and Sight:

Tom Cruise, the symbol of the "American Way Of Life," as integral a symbol of the Glory Days of the United States and baseball and football, is trying to make us see something:

Anatomy of A Sync: O.M.A.C., A.R.G.U.S., and All-Seeing Eyes

Posted on 09:49 by omprakash

According to blogger/video-maker Jake Kotze, synchromysticism can be defined as:

"The art of realizing meaningful coincidence in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance."

Recognizing and recording various "syncs," as they are known, can be a fascinating hobby with some potential for personal growth and a better understanding of the world around us. It also carries with it the danger of entering what Robert Anton Wilson refers to as "Chapel Perilous" -- you might become so caught up in noticing and sussing out the meaning of these various synchronicities that you become utterly obsessed. Because you'll find that the more you pay attention to them, the more they occur.

He has just entered Chapel Perilous, and needs to put the computer away

Also, if you try explaining even one synchromystic happening to an everyday individual, or maybe a family member, you'll often find yourself greeted with an expression halfway between blank and sighting some sort of large blue furry caterpillar on your nose. An expression you might be making right now as you decide this blog is rubbish and quickly click it away.

But if you're still here, let me give you an example of a fascinating series of syncs I had yesterday, all within period of an hour or so.

It all started with an Intention -- I was going to use the bit of free time I had to do some comic reading and take notes for this blog. I was sitting next to my husband, who was playing video games. As I picked up a copy of "Justice League International Annual" #1 to read, my husband switched off the games and flipped to an episode of the old 1980s "Incredible Hulk" animated series. He said there was an episode there that he remembered vividly from when he was a child, "Project Cyclops," and wanted to re-watch it.

Intrigued, I put down my comic and decided to watch the Hulk episode with him. It was about a super-computer situated deep in a mountain called "Cyclops". The computer itself was an eyeball in a pyramid-shaped glass container:

Now this has really caught my attention, because that's the classic "eye-in-the-triangle" symbol -- also known as "The Eye of Providence" -- the one we see on the dollar bill and various other places:

To conspiracy theorists, that "all-seeing eye" symbol automatically = tyranny, "New World Order," various shadowy secret societies, "Big Brother," etc. Strangely, this cartoon seems to mirror some of those concepts, as the "supercomputer" goes crazy and takes over all the appliances and monitors in the United States:

I could do a deeper analysis of the cartoon some other time, but suffice it to say that  the episode is a paranoid's wet dream, with scenes of TV sets and the like featuring that big human-looking eyeball staring at people and watching their activities. In general: a pretty entertaining and intelligent cartoon from that time-period.

Now that the cartoon is done, I go back to my reading, and the copy of "Justice International Annual" #1. And guess what? It is also heavily "ocular-centric," the biggest factor being of course O.M.A.C (who likes to use the word "eye" instead of "I"):

And guess what? A power-hungry, malevolent computer that uses the symbol of the eye also goes crazy. And we also get a scene of the "eye" on all the computer monitors, just like the Hulk cartoon:

Not only do we have O.M.A.C.'s "Brother Eye" in this comic, but liberal mention of the organization "A.R.G.U.S." -- Argus Panoptes being, of course, the Greek giant with a thousand eyes -- panoptes = "all seeing":

Now, what is the symbol for A.R.G.U.S. in the DC Universe?

That's right: an eye in a triangle.

Having quite enough of this High Weirdness and wishing to avoid the Chapel Perilous, I decide to toss my "studies" to the side and just pick up a random old issue of "MAD Magazine" to read. When I open it up, I find this:

At which time, I needed to go to the gym and do a few laps on the treadmill.

The point of this post is not to "suss out" any shadowy meanings attached to any of these coincidences (which, as I mentioned before, took place one-after-the-other in the span of about an hour), but to simply document that they happened at all.

Syncs: it all might simply be a matter of focus

What happened here? Was it simply all chance? Was there any meaning to the syncs? Was there no meaning, but my intention/attention merely "attracted" similar things? Did my focus on one thing lead to similar things "popping" out for me, things I would have ignored otherwise?

Whatever the case, I think a sense of playfulness about the whole enterprise is key.
